Wood Snake Girl

Today is Chinese New Year Eve, which means it's the last day of the Year of the Wood Snake

I was able to complete this illustration of my Wood Snake girl on time to farewell the final day of the Wood Snake year. She is a new OC whom I recently created, and she is the personification of the current Zodiac animal year and the element it's accompanied with in the Chinese calendar. I was meant to create her last year but got sidetracked with other drawings and procrastination is one of my weakness The shadings and contrasting in this piece was rushed and the outcome was terrible because I wanted to knock this off on time before Chinese New Year kicks in tomorrow. I'm pretty impressed with the subject matter and like my Wood Dragon Boy art from last year, it has similar themes where the branch forms the number, 4722, implying the current year of the Chinese calendar, and the Chinese character for "Wood Snake", 乙巳 carved on one of the branches.

The Year of the Snake was a very mixed year for me, but there were indeed lots of great memories to look back on with a big smile. With the Year of the Fire Horse kicks in tomorrow, I look forward to the CNY and will be working on my official CNY art to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse
