Finally, Celia reaches the ocean floor and finds the remains of the giant clam. A great creature, now reduced to nothing more than two empty shells lying open on the rocky ocean bottom. Gently, Celia takes the pearl and places it in the center of the empty clam shell. She sits awhile, in silence, in remembrance of the clam and its loss of life. She does not know how long she stays there, but when she feels that she has been there long enough, she picks herself up off the ocean floor and swims towards the surface.May 24, 2021Comments
