I have a strange question that's been on my mind for a bit–
So my name on every social media(blegh) is a variation of 'melodie_mynt' with or without the dash/underscore but. I always use 'melly-fox' as my signature in my art. Have used it ever since I changed my name on Deviantart (which was uh, at least 6-8 years ago)
So like 'melly-fox' would be my "artist name" and 'melodie_mynt' is just a username. What I want to know, is that normal or would it be easier to use my username as my signature? I'm nowhere near a professional artist or anything like that, but I was just thinking.May 7, 2025

I’ve changed my own signature a couple of times
I don’t think you need to worry too much about it. Most important i think is to have one and to have it be readable/searchable. Will they find you easily if they search by your signature. If there is little correlation between your signature and your account name it will be difficult for people to find you.
Also, signatures are gonna be extra important now that Ai is a thing.
And have it be readable is just smart no matter. Definitely been some artists i haven’t been able to find because i have no idea what their signature says

I have everything combined, on some platforms its “bubbly” or :bubblyshark” or “blzy” and on disc and magma its “blzy” its “Blzy” its short for every single username i have ever created so i always ever sign my art “blzy” or “bubblyshark” :)

Idk how others do it, but for me I have my lil artist dobli doo and my username on there so that others are able to find my account.
Be it reposting, art theft or just seeing it out of context of my profile and wanting to check more of my art out~

Sometimes it happens, but I would say that it's better to make a new signature so you don't confuse new viewers. Other option is keeping the old one and creating a new one and use both of them, maybe to difference between art styles (in case you have more than one)
