Searching for a Full Moon

2022 means 20 years of Full Moon wo Sagashite and I’m living for it my favorite shoujo series was first published January 2002 in Japan’s Ribon magazine. Written and Illustrated by Arina Tanemura, it’s a tragic, powerful story about grief, loss and rebirth.

There are of course a few things about the series I don’t care for, but overall the themes and illustrations are beautiful and I really wish I’d read it much earlier than I did.

This piece is inspired mostly by the anime, which I actually prefer (unpopular opinion but shhh.) I don’t think I’ve ever drawn Mitsuki’s Full Moon persona…which is too bad! She was really fun to color. I’ve never drawn Jonathan either he’s one of my favorites in the anime.

I didn’t take as much time with this as I probably should have, but I think it looks alright
