3. Poly StyreneGood golly Ms Poly! Though she has seen a greater appreciation for her contributions to UK punk in recent years, I feel it’s still downplayed what a radical Styrene was.
Her original clothing designs and dress helped codify the punk “look”, and her sheer attitude in defiance of a norm that boxed her out shines through to this day. I’ve no doubt she is sorely missed by her loved ones.
And I wish my dentist had had a smile like hers on their wall when I was going through the pain of braces, rather than perfect “finished” smiles. She looks like she could do anything.Oct 5, 2021
