Following recent events, we feel the need to clarify our position on AI art. AI art is still a relatively new topic and as such, we are still looking into how to best handle this type of content.
As a community first platform, we really value all your feedback, if the community feels that AI art does not belong on Artfol then we will look into removing such content. We apologise for any miscommunication and hope you understand.

I hope you guys aren’t getting too much shit over this.
just to give my two cents, while I do think it’s cool because I think ai in general is cool, theres too many ethical issues tied up in it. Personally I do feel that AI art is more harm than good because financially it puts a LOT of artists in a tight spot and prioritizes the technology over people. It’d be fine if it was just something for fun, but it’s beginning to replace jobs.

Well AI products are bound to take over soon enough and it's sad how badly this affects most things that are common today. Either way thank you for listening to the users and trying to keep the balance!

I saw two different types of AI art. One that was only typing in prompts and posting that picture that was generated. The second is that the artist uses the generated art as a base or inspiration to draw on it. I’m not a fan of the first one and I don’t think it could be described as art. The second one tho, that is 100% art. And the argument that the generator steals the art so the generated image is stolen is still valid, but is invalid when the artist uses it to create their own. Then it’s like every other drawing that was created with references. Therefore it’s hard to say AI art as a whole is not allowed. It’s not as black and white as it seems in some cases.

Glad it’s more of a misunderstanding as I’d thought. I disagree with allowing AI since it’d impact everyone here negatively.

thank you for listening in such a short amount of time . i believe i speak in behalf of most if not all artists when i say that ai art is truly harmful for the community, at least in the state that it is right now . i hope you make the right choice

thank goodness man. considering AI art is just a slosh of other people's art or at least images spit out by a machine and then posted by someone else claiming they put any work into it, I don't think it deserves any place in a platform of original art made by real people who put time and effort and thought into it. for a platform that offers reporting and banning as solutions for art thieves/theft, I don't get how stealing art just in a different form should be allowed. AI art is really just other people's work jumbled together and saying you made it. I really like this platform and it's about the only good artist social media platform I can think of, so it's going to really suck if it goes down the drain with the AI "art" route like others have. I appreciate that you guys are open to feedback at least. majority of the community artfol has agrees that AI "art" is art theft and shouldn't be accepted here, so I hope you will listen to us about this. some of us don't have anywhere to move to in realms of social media, but if it's over stuff like AI being allowed, I'd rather just leave even if I have no other platform to move to.

AI generated stuff doesn't deserve a place here, sorry not sorry... Like Insect said in their post, it's practically stealing. I'm with them - if AI generated "art" is something Artfol is willing to allow, even after this post, I'm happy to leave. I'm staying off of other platforms for the same reason (DA and Twitter, namely).
I love the community here, I don't want the kindness and shared passion for art to be ruined by something so degrading and hurtful to creators. I would hate to go, but I'd be willing to delete my account here if AI is allowed.

It’s good that u said something about this. From what I’ve seen it seems like quite a bit of the community doesn’t want ai art anywhere on this platform. Or on any platform.
I hope that you’ll listen and not allow ai art on this platform ;w; I want this platform to continue being a safe space for artists

I don't feel like it belongs here until there is an ethical way of the sourcing of art that the AI uses. Currently it's still art deriving from copyrighted pieces without consent from the original artists, and that counts as art theft in my opinion.

I believe AI art should stay because it's really interesting, something that isn't human making art that looks like something both detailed and abstract. Not to mention the fact that people could make challenges where they draw a prompt and see the differences between the AI and artist
