Okay so, I just woke back up at three o'clock and can't go back to sleep so obviously I thought about an essay topic I did a year ago in senior year for a literature class and it could be about literally anything historic and European. I loved the topic so much I wrote TWO essays....so naturally you're gonna hear about it(or not, u can leave now, this is only going to be ramblings about mythology)
The first essay was about the Greek mythological tale about Psyche and Eros!
One of the only stories as a kid I didn't think was gross for having love in it, mainly bc it was actually a little HARDCORE
but aren't all myths? Tho, I literally failed my honors course admission test in third grade so I could read a comic about them, so maybe I'm a little bias!
The story starts with the beautiful and lonesome princess Psyche, with many suitors but none of them entice her. She was so beautiful and sweet, ppl started to worship her in place of Aphrodite....yeah, u already know this is gonna take a bad turn AND IT DOES.
Aphrodite is piiiiiiiissed so she calls up her son is like
"hi sweetie
, can u do mommy a quick little favor???"
And Eros goes
"gee who's life would you like me to ruin now, mom?"
And Aphrodite explains that she wants this girl off the market for all these dudes and out of her hair. She wants her to get married, but for a fun little twist, how about she gets married to a terrifying monster! Aphrodite is the worst dudes...
So Eros is off, not really feeling like starting an argument, and goes to have a creepy little look through sleeping Psyche's window. He's about ready to fuckin snipe her ass, when she rolls over and is actually awake. For one, he expected her to be asleep and for two she was drop. dead.
GORGEOUS 
And he totally flipped out an panicked. He accidentally pricked himself on the finger with one of his arrows, and flew off(did I mention hot boy Eros has hot boy wings? Bc he does)
So long story short, Psyche and her family finds out via oracle she was to be married to a monster and they left her on a mountain top to get picked up by her hubby-to-be. She fell asleep crying and when she woke up, the north(I think) wind was taking her to her new husband's house. She asked him If he'd be staying long and he Basically said "HAHno. Even the gods are scared of this guy.....oh!um, but uh, I'm sure he'll make a great husband!..."
So she was expecting some kind of terrible mountain cave, littered with human carcasses, which wasn't far off to what I was expecting as well, but it turned out to be this lovely palace in the sky! A lot of interpretations make it marble, rose gold and peach which sounds adorable.
Now, she was dropped off to meet the monster. He met her at the door and explained that he was invisible and so were his servants and she was welcomed to anything, but he would always have his own room separate to her at night! She got accustomed very soon and eventually DID fall in love with the monster and became very visibly pregnant. Ecstatic about their baby, the monster allowed Psyche's sisters to drop by while he went on a business trip. And they basically told her he was probably going to eat her and the baby, so it was probably a good idea to kill him. Thank you Psyche's sisters, you were great
So that night, Psyche took a candle and a dagger and made her way to his room. When she got to his bedside,she found her monster. She gasped at the sight and dropped her candle on him, which woke him up. HE WAS THE HOTTEST GUY SHE HAD AND WILL E V E R SEE, THE ONE AND ONLY EROS! And he felt so betrayed he flew off.
Imma try and go to sleep now! I'll finish the story in the morning! Toodles!
