In school, did working artists visit your class or did your class visit where artists work? What did you think about it?
A writer told us about her work once. It sounded like there are lots of freedoms creatively but practically it's not very glamorous.
We visited a local clay figure entrepeneur once. Her shop was fairytale-like and beautiful and it was wonderful to see all these items and fantasy creatures in 3d.
Again, I appreciated the creative side of her work and the freedom of expression but there's also this pressure to sell some amount of her creations.
She told us that she had her hands full making elves for christmas time and other things. The shop had existed for many years and existed for many more.May 17, 2025

So nice to hear. I vaguely remeber that i went to a glass blowing factory in elementary school. Besides that i only saw "real Jobs"

My high school was too poor for that. The only field trip we went on was to an art museum which we were able to get in for free.
I think if we had been able to do this I would have liked to visit where someone worked. I think it’s cool to see how other people design their creative spaces.

For us it's tecnically part of the curriculum to learn about a regional contemporary artist and usually there is some contact with the artist visiting the school and showcasing some of their work or process.
Our schoom even did a bigger procect collaboration with one artist and her actually making some of her art permanent in the school~
And a glassblower visiting
But all of that pretty much only with a focus on the artist personality, one standout work and tecniques how it's made. Pretty much nothing on how they make their living

my college has trips you can pay like £5 to go on but i never went to any. last ones i knew of was a printmaking artist's studio and a claymaking studio
