Welcome to the scum zone Some newer scams as of late recently.
I have a feeling this is affecting other job opportunities right now. But for those in the art business of entertainment or freelance, be very careful.
My partner and I have had same very interesting emails as of late of ācompaniesā that have contacted us via email. (with professional faked work emails btw) Impersonating their HR or recruitment teams by looking them up through linked in to pretend to be them, sourcing a company that is near by you by looking up if you show your city location or state/province etc in any of your art or resumes. To then offering you a job that consists around your style of work. Or a better red flag is when they offer something outside of your zone of work.
They then ask for the opportunity to interview you through (and this is where it always get sketchy) a texting app like telegram, wechat or some other messaging service. They then āinterviewā or pretend to have an interview with you. They offer you a remote job and that they will pay your program expenses if you link up your bank and what not. Already huge red flags. They make you pay service fees or āprogram feesā for your work and then fuck off. Hopefully with a bit of money. $1000s in US or other higher up currencies is a lot in countries with poor inflation.
Please be careful of any job offering you this. Even in the non arts I have a feeling this is spreading. They have hurt a lot of new and emerging students this way, whom are already desperate for a job, so this is extra salt in the wound.Jun 11, 2021
