If you want to make songs that tell a story, your writing skills will come in handy. So don't stress. 
It's easier to learn one thing one at a time. You never know which skill will benefit you later on.

Sometimes itโs hard to just go out of our comfort zone and learn that very difficult skill that we want to much, keep enjoying your writing but Iโam sure if you keep practicing music you will get to that place where one day, playing an instrument would feel easier than learning another skill !
