Depression reference sheet
Here's a somewhat finished ref sheet (I need to tweak some things like the tail, and possibly colors, plus finish the side sketch), for a character who I haven't really mentioned here at all. He's a bit of a difficult case, due to me having to put up warnings for themes of depression whenever I want to talk about him in-depth, since he is, well... literally Depression. So, here it goes:[CW - themes of depression]
Depression is a sort of counter to Happiness and Motivation, but not in a malicious way. Happiness always includes him in activities and drags him out to hang out with her and Motivation, and while he doesn't ever seem to be thrilled by it, he also isn't opposed to it. He gets along with her fine, but Motivation has a mild dislike for him due to the way their respective jobs get into each other's way. Happiness doesn't share those feelings.
Depression is known at Existence Inc. for hating his job and therefore often avoiding work. He knows there's mental benefits to being depressed every now and then, but he still ends up feeling like the bad guy for inducing that state, especially when the affected people struggle to get out of it. He isn't trying to cause depression disorders either, but he doesn't know how to prevent them. Yet some co-workers (like Motivation) blame him for it, and in turn he ends up feeling bad about himself and what he represents.Mar 20, 2022
