@saltea_ricky's post on Artfol

I just tried to doodle some basic things my OCs (specifically the Kenshin creations I'm currently trying to introduce) could do and it made me notice just how hard it is to draw people actually doing something instead of just giving them a pose that doesn't have to show anything specifically :')

Like, I can totally see Matthis setting the kitchen on fire cuz Chase mentioned he'd lowkey want to have cookies or Romina bringing Kenshin a blanket as he just fell asleep working on his desk but HOW DOES ONE DRAW THIS KINDA STUFF?! TvT

Ahh I know how hard it is to go from poses to “sceneries” if I may call them that. If you want to draw full backbrounds or just even some furniture, start with that before drawing in ocs (it's easier than the other way round, trust me ':D). Figuring out perspective (at least one-point and two-point) is a huge help (my ruler has become one of my bestest friends while drawing a “room”, but just for the sketch. Freehand lines afterwards make everything look livelier and fitting together)
Now I said all this stuff without knowing if you want to go that far but I can tell you it's totally worth it learning how to show people actually doing something. It kinda makes them more real bc real people do things instead of standing around randomly :>
If you don't find specific references for what you want, I 100% tecomt taking pictures of yourself! It's really helpful 😊
