Can someone explain why so many people dislike dsmp or consider it problematic?

I know nothing about dsmp other than it has to do with minecraft youtubers.

Like I literally see so many people have "dsmp fans dni" in their bio??? Why????

i have been in the fandom and feel like i can say quite a lot about this sooo
yeah, it’s a minecraft server and most people are fans of the roleplays on it but it also just has a lot of quite popular content creators on it. i think the server itself isn’t even problematic but a lot of the people on it are. dream for example, who made the server and is the most famous on out of them all, is getting cancelled for a different reason daily (sometimes just stupid haters saying stuff because they don’t like him, sometimes people being mad at him for valid reasons in my opinion). you definitely can’t generalise all the people on the server but a some of them have said homophobic, racist or other very problematic things in the past and a lot of hardcore fans won’t acknowledge that. there also are a lot of dsmp fans who are acting very childish (in a bad way), send death-threats to people who don’t like the server, insult people, etc. etc.
to be short: a lot of people are just don’t want to interact with dreamsmp fans because the creators they are fans of have said stuff that’s made them uncomfortable, they’ve had bad experiences with fans/stans in the past or just don’t even wanna risk getting into the drama
it’s a really complicated story tbh and at the end of the day you can really only form your own opinion on it (which can be difficult)
i tried to be as neutral and understandable as possible, if you’re more interested in this subject (because oh boy there’s lots of drama) feel free to dm me but it’s okay if you don’t want to
hope this kinda helped and makes sense?

also, i’m kinda scared it came across wrongly but a lot of the fans of the server are also just nice, normal people who wanna enjoy their content, some don’t even know about all the drama and some just (understandably in my opinion) don’t want to get into it
I personally don’t like the dsmp because of Dream himself and his awful fan base. His fan base is insanely toxic, there have been multiple times that fans will attack and dox people for the smallest things, they’re overly obsessed with Dream and his friends to the point its creepy, they worship him like a god and a big part of that is the parasocial relationship Dream has created around his fan base. He’s just overall not a great guy in my opinion let alone an entertaining person at that.
Mostly because Dream himself is a douchebag and his “stans” are batshit crazy. I personally like the story, I think it was a cool way to go about telling a story and I like the creative freedom it gave a lot of the creators. Makes me sad that One guy managed to demonize an entire fandom tho.
They tend to make a fuss over little things. Dsmp fans sometimes cross the line between being passionate and being obsessive, I also think that the stan culture which dream approves is problematic. Dream seems to kinda control his friends opinions in some matters also. Dsmp fans have bad reputation just like kpop fans. Note that I really know that not the whole, I do like both kpop and dsmp, and I think some fandoms are more calm ones, like Philza or Ranboo fans.
The reason why I personally tend to block people who support dsmp is because of Dream himself.

All I’ve seen from him is that he’s racist, has used/abused kids for animating his music videos or something like that (it’s been awhile, so I don’t fully remember what happened on that one, but it looked pretty sketchy), & his interview with Anthony Padilla did not make him look good at all. He gave me red flags that I think aggressive/potentially violent people do. You know, the type of person who children SHOULD NOT be looking up to.
most of the mcyt in it are very problematic... ESPECIALLY dream. who's like .the main one so. he's made racist and p3dophilic jokes I believe, he made a n4z1 edit over someone else's video, made a KKK edit, and excused his fans doxxing people as just "fans being fans"
