Black socks, a few students wore them, it wasn't in the rulebook so the school heads banned them. I went to an uptight catholic school, I wish they were more punk rock

The thing that got "banned" at our school was walling off the teachers office door with bricks.

Some context:
It happened once as part of the yearly day the folks finishing school that year get to play practical jokes and such. Basically a "plan what you’d like within reason", usually with an overarching theme like "beach vacation", "festival" or such and pretty fun for everybody else involved (regular classes are continuing and most things happen during break time).
So jeah, back to the bricks.
Apparently that was done one year and rumors went around after that the principal would sleep in the office on the day prior the years after to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
One of the years I was at that school they boarded up the main gate, only leaving a crawl space, instead ^-^"
So jeah, more of a verbal ban and dissuasion. School rules with bans and such weren’t really a thing. Pretty sure no one ever read them, more of a word of mouth thing + common sense.

•They tried to banned us from playing British Bulldog which doesn’t seem to dumb at first cuz it gets pretty violent. However they greatly underestimated us 8 year olds so we just kept changing the name. They would ban the new one but by then we were calling it something else so it ended up being really pointless. And this went on for years. It was all rather stupid tbh, like no one ended up in hospital so it wasn’t that bad.

In the last week of school for the soon-to-be-graduates they dress up according to a different theme every day (time travel, childhood heroes, pyjamas vs suits, etc.) and spend the long breaks playing music on a speaker in the hall to the school yard. Those breaks are a 15-minute break and a 25-minute one every day. At one point the principal decided that harmless fun was too much and banned the music, saying it disturbs her in her office (which is not located near where the music is played). Next she went after the costumes, claiming any kind of makeup or covering of the face prevents teachers from recognising the students in class. When it was my turn to do all this, she didnt approve of dressing up AT ALL, even though we promised to not bring alcohol or drugs and to mind the mask and social distancing rules. Some of us dressed up anyway because fuck that, she never said no and we've been waiting for years to do that. One teacher saw me in my 1920s dress and said "hmm I guess this is still fine, I dont have to send you home yet." For a dress and long gloves?! She said it like I was on thin ice for wearing a damn dress! It got even better - my cousin is graduating now, and one day during this motto week he was a few minutes late. The principal was waiting in the entrance hall for late graduates. She then accused him of being drunk and said she smelled the alcohol on him????? She does not need to wonder why everybody fucking hates her

our playground was right next to a road and the boys would stand up up and this stump thing and motion for the semi drivers to toot their horns as they drove by. made the teachers nuts and they banned it.
also we got CHEWED OUT for bringing our own supplies. like dude I had to pay for this it isn’t ur problem
also some kids invented a game they would play at recess and i think at some point it involved biting so yeah that got banned

for example: the principal once demanded me to cut my bangs since they were too long before school started (a was new in that school), never did and the first day of class she approached me and said "those bangs are too long" and I just replied with "I know" and walked away. she told me once more and didn't even pay attention to her and just continued walkin. never again bothered me and just bothered other kids
so, basically, surely they were several banned things and did them anyways

Tampons. Fucking- tampons. People would soak them and plaster them to the walls. All the girls had to be REAAAAL discreet

Hoodies/any jacket with a hood. This included the expensive school hoodies.
I don't know the reason why this rule included the school hoodies, but it was because it was "a safety concern".
A lot of teachers also kept their rooms cold/ heat wasn't working, especially during testing. So they made us sit in freezing cold rooms for literal hours and got mad if we had a hood on.

•In my physics class, it was very ethnically /racially diverse but my physics teacher tried to ban people from speaking other languages in class because “possible bullying”. The students tried telling him that it went against school/classroom rules but that “rule” stayed until he left like 2 weeks before school ended. Maybe that explains why he left probably lol.

I’ll go first: at one of the elementary schools in 2016, my principal tried to ban dabbing cause he hated it so any time a kid was around him they would just dabb right in front of him to annoy him off.
