just never do lineart- ever. Only clean sketch layer
Lots of multiply layers for affect, usually a pink one for overlaying over the whole thing.
Heart highlights in eyes (this is a must unless the face is too small to do this)
Must put everything in folders,,, I need all the underpainting in one layer, then all the clean sketches in one, then the over painting, and then added affects (and obviously backgrounds get their own too)
And finally, hair is always a separate layer. Much easier to fix this way,,, I have had many hair mishaps in the past lol

ever since i figured out the style i liked, clouds are just huge straight horizontal lines with various felt tip pen sizes :v and yeah, clouds are a must, unless the bg isn't detailed :D
and folders. folders everywhere, cuz my ibispaint is a brat :)

Light lines. Like the line art has to be lighter than most of the hue inside the lines. I broke that rule ONCE(today) to just try it and it's so off. It's kinda a Lil ugly too. Never again.(unless it's traditional art)
Also the way I shade skin with 3-5 different hues. Never over 5 or under 3. I even do this with traditional art.

Nothing is pure black nor white even if it looks like it... The cake (and colour) is a lie
•
forever face one side and look weird if its the front or anything else/past the 3/4 angle (Especially facing my right. )
•
Always have a skeleton to build the illustration on. Like perspective lines, character anatomy, shapes and definetly DYNAMICS
•
Blinding lighting
Thick lines
And when hair goes over the eye the eye gets put on lower opacity on where the overlap is

THICC lineart, "watercoulour" shading, the neck lines (you'll see what i mean by looking at any recent pieces lmao), n o s e s

I pretty much always make lighting come from the same exact place, and i almost always shade with red or purple. It only will ever look different color if i put a filter on top of the drawing. But when picking and choosing colors, i always go for red or maroon ish purplse

Lineart must be thick or thicker. I mean rival Omni Man thick. When has this started? I have no idea.
•
If it’s not purple or red, the saturation stays under 30% (and the purple would have to be pretty bright)

Make the lineart thicker where it’d be darker/shaded!
Use a pencil/digital pencil brush for fur markings or tattoos!
Always include a white “eyeshine” in the eyes that typically touch the pupils!
Use curved lines in succession for fur texture or bone/muscle definition, especially with a fluffy character!
Everyone has an (0w0 ) type face/mouth unless specified otherwise! (Usually includes humans with this rule, but their 0w0 face/mouth is way more subtle looking!)
When coloring, make where those curved lines are that show off bone/muscle shapes darker for an interesting highlighted effect!
Use rounded, upside down, triangles to represent private parts in a SFW way, no matter the character’s gender or sex!
I have quite a lot that I’ve noticed, as you can probably tell!
