I feel like as more and more social media sites focus on short, serotonin boosting video clips, the more I'm drawn to longer form media like 2-3 hour youtube videos or long series. I've had issues with getting sucked into specifically Instagram reels (I deleted tiktok a while ago) but they just don't appeal to me as much as they used to. I feel normal again lmao. I feel like I've noticed a trend with youtubers making longer formatted videos too, but that might just be a cultivated feed by me

Tldr; Youtube documentaries/ movie length videos hit hard

Yeah, never been big on the sort of content that was popular in the early days of tiktok so I just kept watching my 1h three parters in peace xD

Long form content is just so much more engaging for my (possibly) neurodivergent brain. Like how am I supposed to hyperfocus on something that barely lasts 30 seconds?? I wanna be engrossed FOR WEEKS
i suspect its because social media banks on people scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, uploading, uploading, uploading, scrolling, scrolling because it drives engagement and thats all the sites exist for. short format perpetuates that easily. youtube seems to be a lot of guys with like, site history, patreon backing, etc and stuff so they can afford to put out long form media + youtube was never built on fast forced engagement. hopefully it never goes down that path. some of us need long form to focus on Other stuff, why would i waste all my attention doom scrolling to see what OTHER people are looking at. like why is this even a thing, who cares
Reject 30 second clips with multiple moving parts, return to 2 hour video essays about indie video games you never heard of.
