One day, I decided that since Ken was going to be part of his own series, my profile needed to be its own thing. It needed a mascot; a face that my works could be recognized as. Shadow was originally supposed to be a potion beaker with a beam Kirby hat, but I decided to put it on a shadow since it was easier to draw.

Given as a nickname to me about 6 years ago by some internet friends who just shortened "atenaya" And then as a joke were looking up our users and nicknames in the urban dictionary and just googling what would come up first and I opened Wikipedia that "Aten/Aton" was the same for the Sun disk deity in ancient Egypt
Liked it a lot so when I came out to my irl friends I told that name to them and now we're here

For context: Mia is my nickname irl and I hated my real life name

I went over the languages I knew (Filipino, Cebuano, Japanese) and found the translation of "Not Yet" in Japanese which is "Mi"... And I made this right around the time when I started posting art- I was a beginner then and technically still a beginner now and I don't think I can call myself an artist yet for how underskilled and unequiped I am with all of this XD So I'll stick with "Not yet art" as my username (haha a play with words)... and it works with my nickname XD

I opened this Artfol account with the aim to improve my art so: Alea Ner = A Learner.
If you scroll down my gallery, you'll see old DTIYS entries with alearner.

But then my aim changed to trying to earn financially from my art.

I'll be honest, seeing all the cool usernames and art pen names here makes me wish I'd put more thought into making an awesome sounding name. Something that sounds more sophisticated or magical, maybe with more meaning. But I already have a redbubble shop and kofi with this name so...

I listen to the song "Lollipop" by Mika a lot, and it's wormed into my brain like a parasite. I'm not complaining, it's a good song.
When I made Ollie, I was reminded of that song and how his name rhymed with "lolly"
