There are no stories about this yokai and only appears on yokai picture scrolls, but only his name and illustration appear. Its origin is most likely a play on words. From the expression: ”dono tsura sagete“ a phrase used to scold a person who looks calm when they should be ashamed of something they’ve done. When taken literally it means to “lower a face,” just as the face has been lowered down to his torso..
