So, something I wanted to talk about here when I had the chance.
There are these days where I feel so unbelievably horrible about my art, I don't even wanna look at it sometimes and I have been in that headspace for the last couple years when I started drawing seriously, which is about six years now that I think about it.
I think I felt that way for many reasons, and not just because of the difference between taste and skill, it was more because whenever I started something, I was good at it almost immediately, and I was always kinda the person who could pick up a lot of things pretty darn quickly when I was younger. Drawing, and art wasn't one of those things but for some reason, I kept on doing it, I found something I truly loved and I don't think I knew it at the time. I hated what I was doing and making but I couldn't stop and I loved doing it no matter how bad the drawings would turn out, it was something I did, something I identified myself with along with a lot of other people in my life.
It became a part of my identity and I wasn't happy or proud of it for a long time. It wasn't just this, I think it was also because I couldn't take any compliments and that sort of repulsion of compliments came from the classic "Oh no no, my art isn't good" and other alternatives that I kept saying to myself. I think I'd convinced myself that my art wasn't good and that I needed to meet some freakish standard at the time. There were also other reasons I don't want to get into right now.
I can say, now though, that I am so so proud of myself for the amount of progress and improvement I've made over the last six years, I feel like I'm finally opening myself up to new challenges and still feeling so unbelievably proud of what I've accomplished. I feel like I truly love art now, and I just feel alive when I draw or animate. I have never felt like this and it took so long for me to get here but I feel so happy. I finally feel like I'm building a portfolio I'm proud of and I just wanted to share how happy and proud I feel because damn, it feels amazingDec 2, 2020
