About the child online safety act and attempts to censor and surveillance the internet:
I personally think it’s BS how the government in both the US and UK is going above and beyond to straight up destroy the internet with censorship.
I feel like it was never about protecting children more like keeping tabs on people online and invading their privacy.
Cause let’s be honest: the internet was never really intended for children or minors. And if minors or children did use the internet, it was up to the parents to monitor what content their kids are consuming. (Idc if Karen’s get angry over this take. I will die on this hill).
That’s why the whole COPPA fiasco from 5-6 years ago p*ssed so many people off. It was just an old law the government passed after they quickly realized that children were starting to use the internet for fun and entertainment back in the 90’s
And the entire art community nearly imploded over it. I remember YouTubers like Moonlight Jewel and DollMotion making videos talking about quitting YouTube cause of it. Cause, they make doll repainting videos.
So many artists were absolutely hurt by this. And this just puts the internet in a weird grey area. Too edgy? Too NSFW? You get age restricted and censored. Too clean? Too child friendly? Kids content!
So I can completely understand the protests and the petentions fighting off these laws.

Well as someone who goes on the internet alot and does many things...the parents need to protect there kids I agree that the government should be putting justice and people shouldn't turn a blind eye to injust but this law DOES NO BENEFIT OR JUSTICE OR PROTECTION TO ANYONE aaaaand this has made to watch YouTube on my tv guest account rather than my account and to gon on pintrest which i find ok but somewhat odd in genral that law should be changed, yes protect kids but don't make everyone else sufffer

Okay this might sound a little weird but don’t you think it’s weird how they put all this up all of a sudden when people wanted to find out about “THE” files? (•<•) That the orange turd tried to hide
Anyways, this new law is going to backfire badly. The internet is still relatively new and there could have been better regulations to “protect” children. I don’t think children should be stayed away from the internet as there are many things that the internet can do to help children like education, cool online games, stuff like Club Penguin and Moshi Monsters, tools to help children with their studies and skills, new hobbies. YouTube has tremendously helped me with many skills around cooking when I was kid/teen and even GCSEs :0
My brother learned how to use Godot because of the internet.
There should be a space possibly just for children for the internet and have tighter rules just so there’s no harm/bullying done.
And the internet for adults, that should be just for adults with also better rules and for people to have options if they wanna see NSFW content sectioned in a way to say yes or no to sexual and gore content or no to sexual but yes to gore, ect :0
It’s funny that they don’t even fix the main problems like bullying, abuse, bots, nasty ass Ai, theft, ect but they make age restriction a thing which is even done incorrectly (._. )
I hope I am making sense with all this. I am just extremely frustrated and tired of how shit humanity has been getting since I was little. We go one step forward and 50 steps back
