I feel like a lot of people don't recognise non binary (nb) people as transgender people, which I find kind of weird because transgender just means that the gender assigned at birth isn't the actual gender of the person (right?)
What do you think? Is it also a feeling you have?
Personally it bothers me a bit because it makes me feel like NB ppl aren't legitimate and it erases the "gender isn't binary" thing by making it even more binary
Also being transgender can mean a lot of things and bring up a lot of questions and other things, and this separation between "binary genders" (aka men and women) and "nb genders" brings me the feeling that trans "binary" people are legitimate in all this experience and questions, euphoria and dysphoria, but non binary people aren't or are less, which is not true at all
Of course, if you are non binary and don't feel/ identify as transgender it's totally fine! I'm really not against you or think you are a bad person and I fully support you!
The other thing is, although now I identity more on the feminin spectrum, I still feel like I'm non binary, and I've felt like that for a while now, but this "separation" really made me feel uncomfortable for a long time (and still does sometimes) because I really felt less legitimate as a NB person and like my gender didn't really exist, or my experience wasn't real, idk if it makes sense sorry ;-;Apr 1, 2023

Im not part of the "trangender community" bc once some people switch they adopt the toxic masculinity and being trans doesnt mean someone is gay or accepting of other genders. its a ahit show. But nonbinary people are transgender even if theyre not transexual. people are dumb. you are valid.

I always got confused why non-binary was grouped with transgender or it’s term until someone explained why. A lot of sexualities are grouped together cause they are similar or something.

Like one of the other comments mentions, the white stripe in the trans flag is for nonbinary/represents the nonbinary umbrella (i.e. nonbinary, agender, genderfluid, etc.), so we're absolutely included and considered trans within the community (of course, those who are comfortable with associating with it personally!) But I completely understand your frustration and how it can feel really alienating and invalidating when people say you Have to fall in the gender binary to be considered trans. It makes it even more difficult when it comes to sexuality too (like labeling yourself and how some people will just. Decide For you if you fit into that sexuality or not despite being nonbinary). I know for me personally, I never knew about the white stripe in the trans flag standing for nonbinary people for a Really long time, but once I found out about that I didn't feel bad or like I was encroaching on a space that wasn't mine to occupy and exist in, so I just try my best to give the benefit of the doubt to people who deny nonbinary people being trans when/if I have suspicions that they're not aware of all the genders and lack thereof that the trans flag encompasses. But it's still really disheartening a lot of the time when we're excluded for not, "counting," or not fitting some people's personal definition of trans, bc the whole point of being trans is exploring your gender (or lack thereof) and just feeling like yourself and presenting how you like, but even That can be different for every trans person. That to me has always felt trans for nonbinary people, and there's no right or wrong way to Be nonbinary. So long as you feel comfortable and happy with yourself, that's what matters

Its also weird because despite nonbinary being a whole ass separate thing, afab enbies are the only ones formally recognized. Amab nonbinary folks are literally scourned for no reason

•Idk if this means anything but (at least I’ve heard this from several sources) the creator of the trans flag said the white part is to represent non binary folks as having a legitimate identity within the community
