@maffister's post on Artfol

am i the only one who hates the stuff like "i fix your art" and shit like that ?

it's mostly young artists (very young) who fall for those things and give consent to generic artists to roast their art and "fix" it.

You can't fix art.

you can however improve. learn new things. but fixing ? no. they usually make anatomy mistakes or they just have a shading technique that isn't considered "good enough" (and I'm pointing at myself for that one). But the videos just seem condescending and are just cringe to watch. You feel like you're better than some artists and trick them into giving consent to roast them ?? that's disgusting. Most of the times the poor young people feel like shit about their art afterwards..... like bruh. Stop "fixing" art and maybe concentrate on your own shit.

and I'm not even talking about the ones who do it without consent. I've not seen any on youtube (yet) but I know there's a bunch of assholes who do it on twitter. Who the fuck are you to take some art and "fix" it ? You're no better than them. They might not be at the same level as others but that doesn't give you the right to steal their hard work and make them feel like shit.

to anyone who think they need fixing ; there's a way to do that. its called asking for constructive criticism. We'll be all happy to help you with that. But don't ever ask anyone to fix your work. You don't need that. You deserve better than that. No one can change YOUR drawings. They're YOURS. Only you can "fix" them ; by improving and learning from your mistakes.

This is really important to me and i hope people will see how much those videos succ.

reading this gave me so much satisfaction like finally someone says it
I honestly couldn’t have said this better myself. I 100% agree with u and I feel like more ppl need this message tbh
@maffister I wanted to mention the differences between styles too but felt like the text would get too long LMAO so yeah I totally get what you mean!!! It's like they're dicating what is a good and what is a bad art style.
YES!!! I CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I AGREE!! """Fixing""" art is so fucking stupid and I hate it with a burning passion. ESPECIALLY the assholes that do it without even asking first. I hope people like that never show up here 😤
It's a huge problem cuz first of all, who asked for it ?
Second, they're taking the art directly from the artist without permission whatsoever.
Art is 100% subjective. Sure there are rules and techniques but that's up to the artist to bend and twist them to create something that they want. "Fixing" art is just being an a.hole really.
And it's disrespectful, like, hit you on the nuts and say, "you're not a good artist and your way of drawing is crap, let me do it for you because I'm a better artist."
YEAH those videos always make me so uncomfortable, like I know the people who submitted their art for it knew what the video was going to be about, and that if they did it it was because they didn't mind it. But the BALLS you gotta have to even propose your fans to give you their art and then do that?? It's not even the fault of artists who give their art for that, they're probably not very experienced and think that getting their art "fixed" will help them grow but honestly doing that to people is just so shitty? Like idk if people do it to genuinely help or because they want to feel like they're better than you LMAO
