“I know that look” - Ruby and EstherWhile Willard is off investigating the crimes an illusive terrorist, she stalks them in plain sight.

And this is one of my favourite steps in the narrative!
Esther finds herself utterly at the mercy of the world she lives in and her place in it.
While on a train, she is stalked by Ruby. Who relates to and sympathises with Esther’s silent screams.

Ruby is one of my favourite characters in EB.
Her disguise is simply the one her world gave her. The brutal superficiality of an intensely patriarchal society and it’s treatment of her, bolsters the disguise and rage beneath it.

I like to think that she’s somewhat aware that her worldview is just as much a source of contention as it is a way for her to justify her radical actions.

Whether it’s disproportionate, I genuinely don’t know. Who wouldn’t want to burn that awful dredge of a city down?
But she’s taken those steps.

While writing, I love to imagine what thoughts would be swirling.
Ruby probably sees a lot of herself in Esther. Is she doomed to experience the same things?

It’s one of my favourite beats. It’s somber and quiet. Yet, in my opinion, very intense and alive.

I might revisit a few more steps in this block with some art :0

Thanks for reading this! It means a lot to me personally.

Iv'e been meaning to write something about this artwork for a while, here are some thoughts: It's such a wondrous piece, the colors are neat and envoy the emotions you tell about in the description, the coldness of Esther, and the warmness of the sympathy from Ruby. Oh, and I like what you did with the smoke, it gives Ruby an eerie vibe, pretty much because she's pretty much the villain in said story. Well, thats all, hope you have a wonderfull week 🐸
