Objects, similarly to humans, need sleep, but how much is more of an individual thing (those who can store a lot of excess energy can get by without a good nap for days, if not weeks)
As for this drawing, Koda normally doesn't like to sleep alone, it makes them anxious, so they end up staying for more than they can hold up. They also like to sleep near warm things like radiators, and since Winston tends to generate a lot of excess heat, they will often come to them in the middle of the night just to quietly snuggle under the blanket to hopefully get some rest.
