I guess I should explain my OC universe based on my previous post. Long post ahead!
I’m writing a comic about a world where humans have been infected with an alien virus that turns you into metal if you have violent thoughts. Once the mutation is activated, you’re called a Metalloid. If it takes over your whole body, you become a mindless, blood-crazed Android who can’t control your violent tendencies. Once you activate the mutation, you can’t revert to normal even if you never have a violent thought ever again. Society treats it as a reminder of your “sins”.
The virus came from a race of aliens called the Utopians, who pose a threat to humanity. But fighting against them means risking turning into a Metalloid. So the only people who can fight the Utopians are the Metalloids themselves.
Astato is a company made up of Metalloids who have decent control over their violent tendencies or have none at all. They’re in charge of doing things that non-mutated people can’t do, including hunting for food, persecuting those who cannot control their violent tendencies, and of course exterminating Utopians. I guess, think of it like putting prisoners into public services, except not all of them are guilty of a crime. Astato sometimes will “upgrade” your mutation so that it can be weaponized or useful in some other way.
