Unpopular opinion but getting mad over some copying your artstyle is kinda dumb as hell.Jan 14, 2021

I agree, there are so many great artists that I admire and I like to study why I like their style, if you know what I mean. I try not to copy them but I get inspired by their works because they are better than me in many thing and I can learn from them. And if I were them I would be happy to be an inspiration and a role model.
I've had an accademic education so I've learned copying old and great artists works and now I tend to get inspired by whom I admire.
Obviously it is different if you steal their style and claim it as yours.

agree just don't like tracing and claiming as yours other than that it just helped me a lot on developing my style

Honestly I just do it in private for practice, you learn a thing or two from copying other styles.

I agree. Art styles are actually really hard to copy accurately too. My only issue with it is when people do it to piggy back off of someone else’s success. So the make or break thing is the intent behind the decision making. Am I making sense. Like if you’re just drawing in a style that inspires you and you find aesthetically pleasing because you think it’s so cool and you want your style to be like that then go for it since you’ll interpret things differently (like themes ideas and character) because you’re two different people. AM I MAKING SENSE
