Chiaki is not particularly religious, it doesn't make sense to her that God(s) exist when there's so much pain in the world right now, but her father made it a routine to always pray for the lost lives of people (& demons) involved in the mission he had just accomplished as a demon slayer. So Chiaki is kind of following her deceased father's footsteps by always praying after she finishes a mission, it has just become a routine. This time, she has been away for a long time, and when Giyuu heard that she's coming back, he went to the shrine Chiaki would usually go to so he could see her and welcome her back. It is still unclear what he feels for her, but I think it's fair to say that something is developing. In their world there seems to be no place for love as there are more important things like saving lives, so I don't think their relationship will go far until they have won the battle against Muzan.
