Slime (Kidlit Art Postcard) - 20260204

I made another digital art piece again, and this one feels extra special to me. This time, it is one of my baby steps into learning kidlit style art. I wanted it to look soft, kind, and warm, like a gentle story book page.

In this artwork, I drew a little girl having a quiet nap in a lush green meadow. She is sitting on the grass with her eyes closed, holding a small blue slime in her arms. Two big slimes, one yellow and one pink, are beside her, and she is leaning on them like they are big, soft pillows. They all have sweet, calm smiles, which makes the whole scene feel safe and cosy. Above them is a tall tree with wide green leaves, giving shade, while far hills and a pale blue sky sit in the back. Tiny pink flowers and soft grass fill the front, making the place feel like a happy dream land.

The piece is also my entry for Kidlit Postcard Art Day, which comes every first Thursday of the month. I liked the idea of making something small and cute that could fit on a postcard and still tell a tiny story.

This artwork is inspired by the video game “Slime Party”. I love how the slimes in that game look friendly and fun, so I tried to give mine that same warm and playful feel. I wanted the girl and the slimes to look like they trust each other, like good mates having a calm rest in the grass.

I think the artwork turns out fine, and I am glad I gave this style a go. Still, since I am only taking baby steps in kidlit art, I know there are things I must improve next time. I want to get better at shapes, colours, and making the scene even more clear and bright. Even so, this piece makes me smile, and that tells me I am on a good path.
