So this is something I’ve been thinking about a lot and I was wondering if any other Batman/Batfam fans feel the same (note I’m mostly a animated shows fan, I’ve never had the chance to really dive into the comics)

I’ve been hearing that Gunn is going to base his Batman movie around the brave in the bold comic run which features Damian as Robin. However I think this is a terrible idea when it comes to introducing Robin. Like I know there’s also supposed to be a teen titans where Dick/Robin 1 can be introduced but I feel it’s really important to have a Batman movie that focuses on Dick becoming Robin. After seeing how Batman has been adapted into the live action movies and peoples reactions to Superman I don’t think the general audience is ready to be dropped into a universe on Robin number 5.

Like Batman tends to be a very logical character for the most part, that’s why Joker is a good foil to him and letting a child go to battle is a very illogical choice that even someone as traumatized as Bruce can see. So I feel it’s important that we see tiny murderous Dick Grayson who at 8 says, I will kill my parents murder to get revenge. The audience needs to see that Bruce sees training Dick and allowing him to put that extremely violent energy and grief somewhere is the best option give then situation. It also gives a chance to show Batman still trying to keep Dick away from some of the more horrific stuff when he’s younger. Where with Damian, he’s an already trained assassin and if we start with him I feel the “wHy doEs BaTman KeEp LeTing ChILdern Be hIs SoLdiers????” Comments are going to be super bad, because arguably Jason and Duke are the only ones who didn’t set themselves on this path.

Maybe it will be fine, I’m just not quite convinced yet.
