Ualan - the kelpie boy
first post wow wow. Its a shame you can’t post multiple photos, like instagram! I definitely have a lot more of him and the friend that helps him out of all that rubbish, Akiko. But if you’re not familiar, a kelpie is a Scottish mythological creature (mainly used just to keep children and young women from misbehaving on Sundays) that has a true form of a horse but may often shapeshift to appear as a human. Ualan (pronouned wallan or oo-ahlan) is not actually a horse and will make sure you know that. Not being fully kelpie, he makes no plans on eating or drowning any children. Rather he lives a life of semi-solitude in the coastal ports of south east scotland, trying to keep a low profile from both other mythical creatures (as he was banished from rivers and lakes, where kelpies usually reside) and also humans, mainly because he only speaks Gaelic and has only a mild distaste for some of them, as his own father was a fisherman. I haven’t seen that new documentary Seaspiracy, but you don’t have to be clued in to know that fishing is not great for marine life. I’ve typed enough! That’s Ualan lore!
