Sam Neill Tribute

Here’s another tribute I made, it’s a tribute to the New Zealander actor Sam Neill. He was best known as a leading man in film and television projects and received three nominations for three Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Neill was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 1991 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services as an actor. Neill was born in Omagh, Northern Ireland, UK to an English mother and New Zealander father in 1947 and he moved with his family to Christchurch, New Zealand in 1954. He first achieved film recognition in the 1977 film Sleeping Dogs and was later followed by lead roles in films such as My Brilliant Career (1979), The Final Conflict (1981), Possession (1981), Evil Angels (1988), Dead Calm (1989), Death in Brunswick (1990), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Until the End of the World (1991), The Piano (1993), In The Mouth of Madness (1994), Event Horizon (1997), The Dish (2000), and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016). His most famous role was in the Jurassic Park film franchise, playing the role of Dr Alan Grant beginning with Jurassic Park (1993), he later reprised the role in Jurassic Park III (2001) and Jurassic World: Dominion (2022). In television, Niell portrayed Merlin in the miniseries Merlin (1998) and its sequel miniseries Merlin’s Apprentice (2006), with the former earned him nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe Award. Other television roles included playing the historic spy Sidney Reilly in Reilly, Ace of Spies (1983), a British officer during World War II in One Against the Wind (1991), Thomas Wolsey in The Tudors (2007) and Major Chester Campbell in Peaky Blinders (2013-2014). Neill also narrated in various documentary projects. For this tribute, I drew the logo for Jurassic Park, but in place of the tyrannosaurus rex skeleton is a silhouette of Dr Alan Grant and where it says “Jurassic Park” reads his name “Sam Neill”.
