I’ve recently hit an art block where I just don’t have the motivation to draw anymore. Any good tips for getting over this slump?Apr 27, 2021

I keep a jar which I write peoples suggestions in and I randomly pick a few when I get art block! Really helps and my audience quite like it when their suggestions get picked

For me, taking a break from creating and just focusing on consuming helps a lot! So listening to new music, watching new movies, and looking at different boards on Pinterest. Usually when I’m focused on everything but drawing, inspiration pops up

Whenever I get artblock, I try to watch new videos on yt from my norm and/or listen to different types of music

I've had a few really great art teachers and one hella professional one, and he said that the myth about waiting to see if you get back into the art mood is not gonna work reliably. It's all about discipline and forcing yourself over the slumps yourself.
You can't cross a hill by waiting for it to go away, you have to use your own willpower to do it.

Maybe take a rest for a while. It maybe sounds weird, but I had a break from drawing for 4 months. When I finally came back, my art seem to be better in my eyes. Of course there a lot of things I need to remind myself after this amount of time, but it's fine.
If you still wanna draw so maybe try to draw something else? Or just fill a piece of paper with random things you see. Once I draw how my workplace looks like while im drawing and it was a fun :)

The most important thing to consider here is. Don't forget to take a break. If you're pushing your art muscle too much, you'll get overwelmed. I recommend you take the day off and go watch movies or animes, go on voice chat with your friends, play video games or read comics or books! It usually helps with my visual library, and whenever I come back, I feel refreshed!

When I hit an art block I take the time to do something else that I enjoy. Like developing other habits or going on walks. Usually when I hit an art block it means that my creative ideas are run dry and I need to go find other inspirations. It maybe takes a day or two, but take the time you need. Don't go months without drawing, just take enough time to fill your "creative bank account" -Jake Parker (has a youtube video about it.)

It is really relaxing. But if you're not into it, I recommend you doing fanart of old favorite cartoons or anime. I have recently started doing this, and it really helped me, so I really HOPE it helps you too.

Hello there! Personally, whenever I hit an art block, I start drawing random props of things that make me happy. I like to watch asian cooking asmr videos as I draw the props. My props usually are cup of teas, flowers and a few things that give me vintage vibes, because I LOVE vintage. I also watch these videos just so I can draw whatever they are cooking. And it helps A LOT
