I'm on the same boat here... Artists do say to find your own niche, either have a good audience in this specific fandom..
But reading the commission market is oversaturated does make me down when my portfolio is yet nowhere to be finished...

The key is unfortunately that you need to become marketable. And theres SO MANY ways to do this.
If you're into certain fandoms(games/anime/shows) and the art you make aligns with those interests, youll find it easier advertising within those spaces to those audiences.
Some people gain commissions by being more of a personality on social media or a spokesperson. This gets people invested in them through their opinions and people appreciate the art they make and through the connection will commission the artist if its affordable and they're looking for commissions at the time.
Looking at your account, you draw a lot of animals, so advertising or existing in spaces where a lot of pet owners might gather and letting people know you'll paint their cats/dogs would be a good place to put out feelers for commissions instead of just into a void
You could also look for work on places like UpStart and apply to anything that fits if you're struggling with comissions, but it is unfortunately an oversaturated field that requires networking, presence and skill to even begin a steady flow of commission work.

•I'm in the same boat as you, so I can't offer any advice, but I do wish you good luck. I wish I had more to give you but I think the market is just so oversaturated that it's hard.
