I need distraction from my declining mental health

(Kind of, she fell first but he fell harder)

Hannes walked through the aisles, trying to think of anything but Greta. In front of the pasta, he attempted to distract himself with thoughts about birds. “I like sparrows, eagles, finches, tits,” he pondered. “Greta has nice tits,” he thought, annoyed, as he grabbed a random package of pasta. As he moved to the pesto section, he tried again. He reached for a green pesto labeled “Heaven’s Garden.” “Birds fly in the sky. Skies are blue, clouds are white, and chemtrails are straight.” His other hand let go of the trolley and reached for another pesto, a red one. “Red like the evening sky, like the clouds when the sun is about to hide behind the skyline… red like Greta’s hair.” He groaned and pressed the two cold pesto glasses against his forehead. “…you’re the devil in red, like a cute, smart, and sexy parasite hiding in the ridges of my brain,” he muttered to himself. An elder man next to him heard, gasping and backing away. “Less drugs would do the job,” the man whispered. Hannes didn’t even bother to look at him, just exhausted. He let his shoulders and hands drop. “Sorry, I think I fell in love, I guess. But I’m pretty sure she won’t feel the same,” he said deadpan, dropping the pestos into his trolley and walking past the puzzled man.
