Mermay is everyday, right?

I have not really ever drawn mermaids, but I do love the fluid look the water element gives. I just always struggle with getting an image that isn't Ariel fanart

But then I remembered goldfish (since I just learned that word in my kanji practices) and went with that! I like how the colours turned out

I tweaked them a lot in the blocking phase...

Know that feeling, I have a mermaid OC who doesn't look like her, but her name's pronounced the same

Also, we'll call this MerLy ...like Mermaid and July(?) Yeah, um.. that was probably dumb...
