When I was young, I made a mistake.
I gave you
My heart
Because I loved the way you looked at me.
You made me feel special.
You made me feel that the world was mine to conquer.
I was naive. And stupid. And I gave you my all.
Yet
Knowing of my youthful foolishness
You threw me out
Into a society that wasn’t ready to accept me for who I am
I don’t want to be the Oscar Wilde, the Alan Turing of my generation
— Defined not by my talent, but by tragedy
Of a sin made by society
— I’m not ready to walk eternity with my guilt
Knowing that people will only remember me by a single trait
History speaking of only my demise and not my rise
And not by the success nor talents I possess
But by the single mistake
