Taj (she/her, canonically 27) is one of two people next in line for the throne. She lives in a Country called ‘Osemont’, but spent most of her life feeling disconnected from the people she was meant to serve. She’s never not frustrated with the conduct of her guards, particularly in the Black Door District. Her and her twin sister (Tiana) are meant to be competing for the throne in the new year but Taj has no real interest in fighting for a position that will pull her further out of touch with the people she cares most about.
Taj and Cyrus are in similar positions. They both have more responsibilities than they really know what to do with, and their main priorities are keeping their families safe, not ruling a country. Both would much rather have any other 9-5 but the ones they’re in right now. For that reason, among many others, they’re very close. Cyrus is curt with most. Taj is one of the people that mean the most to him. And more often than not they’re decompressing together whenever they have the chance to.
This year, something is off with Taj. And just when the people around her begin to take notice, they’re all further knocked off guard with events that start to take place in the city.
