Bottled Piet Mondrian
Piet Mondrian is a Dutch artist and art theorist of the 20th century. He is one of the precursors of the abstract art of his century. He believed that art should not represent reality but should be something more spiritual. He adopted several styles during his life, in a process of simplification, and reduction of art to its core.In his early years, he painted a lot of landscapes in a typical Dutch impressionist style, with many touches of color in a palette of greens and blues. Then, a Fauvist influence impacted his style, and his landscapes took on primary colors: blue, red and yellow. Gradually, Piet Mondrian focused more on working with shapes and realistic subjects gradually disappeared from his art as he studied Cubism.
He then focused on simplifying his style, using only the primary hues (yellow, blue, red), the main values (white, black, gray) and the two horizontal and vertical dimensions available in 2D graphic art. The lines are gray and thin at first, and the rectangles very colorful. Over time, the lines become black, thicker and the rectangles become mostly white. During the following period, he also colored the lines, giving an impression of depth, before abandoning them for a set of primary and black rectangles.
