• comms always openI wonder why we ever felt the need to have terms that separated people based on whether they were male or female instead of just using neutral ones...like why do we need to have waiter + waitress, actor + actress, etc. my family doesn't use the words "kids" when talking about me and my sister, it's "the girls" and when my uncle + his wife talk about their kids it's "the boys" I just don't see why it's necessary to specify. and then when we're at like a family even or something they'll be like "the boys AND the girls" ?? wouldn't it just be easier to say "the kids" ????
I just feel like it's kind of useless? and obviously enforces a binary but...why do we need a separate term to specify if a worker in a certain field is female? and why on earth do people say "the boys" "the girls" "girls and boys" (as in a group) when you could just say "kids" ?? My step brothers grandpa doesnt even call me my name he calls me "girl" its dysphoric and kinda annoying

•Well in some contexts it was useful, humans like to group and categorize things all that its leaving that discrimination was a things aside

Psshhh idk. It's been like that for centuries. Probably stems from languages with gendered nouns and such. Also just in general history has put such definition and emphasis on gender. Tale as old as time, really.

•I def agree with this, as a turk, even the differentiation between she and he is quite unnecessary as in Turkish (and Turkic languages for all I know) use the same word for she,he, it and them(singular)
Also I do not get why people get soooo butthurt over people using non gendered phrases addressing people like I’m sorry you got called a person instead of a woman hhhh
