Sometimes I just reflect on my childhood and I wonder why I was never tested for autism. I feel like there was no way neurotypical kids did the stuff I did.
Like, for example, I took the exact same lunch to school for years and I would cry if I had to take something different. (Routines and struggles with change)
I still refuse to eat a lot of foods because of the texture or sometimes how the food looks. I also have the tendency to rotate between the same outfits because I know they won't feel weird.
Even if I'm not autistic, there's no way I'm not nuerodivergent to some capacity.Feb 13, 2023

This is why self diagnosis is important in my opinion (with enough research of course, a lot of people associate it with people who see one post listing traits of a disorder and thinking they have it, but many people spend hours of research and reading other people's experience). I found out I probably have adhd through instagram pages posting about neurodivergency, which led me to read up on the topic a lot. At the time I was heavily struggling with finals because I just couldnt concentrate at all on things I wasn't interested in, and when I watched a video explaining how motivation works for people with adhd I cried because I felt so understood. My mom doesn't believe that I have it because I'm "not hyperactive enough" and refuses to listen to me explain the inattentive type. Looking back on my life it makes so much sense, too. Sensory issues, trouble paying attention (whether in class or when my mom tells me to do something and I instantly forget), picky eating, stims that I was sometimes punished for because they looked weird. Had I not seen these posts and decided to learn more about neurodivergency, I would still wonder what is "wrong" with me.

•I hesitate to say much about it for a lot of reasons but there's a lot I don't know and I'd hate to be ill informed about any of it and risk diminishing it as a subject. but i find myself thinking about how much easier it would be and would've been for me if I had something to attribute some of my behaviors and interactions to. And maybe then people might be more understanding of it.
But either way I feel like I can relate in some capacity
\o/
Also I went from thinking of something stupid to say in a post to this I just got whiplash holy beans.
