Exasperated by their daughter’s refusal to engage with the world outside of her phone, Aoi’s parents give her a shopping list and ask her to pick up some groceries from the nearby supermarket. Without tearing her gaze from the screen, Aoi nods and heads out.

Fortunately, Aoi and her family live in a pretty quiet neighbourhood where there’s hardly any traffic, so she barely has to look up from her phone on her way to the supermarket.

As she’s walking past the local park, she suddenly feels something land around her ear, and looks up to spot a fluorescent pink glow stick there. She casts her gaze behind her, and sure enough, she spots her best friend Momo barrelling towards her, covered in various pieces of glow stick jewellery.

She’s hosting a gaming stream later that night and asks Aoi if she’s free, and if she wants to come over to her house for it. Without missing a beat, Aoi agrees, never turning her attention from her phone as Momo takes her free hand and pulls her friend along behind her.

Aoi returned home the next morning without groceries, much to the chagrin of her parents.

Here we are in June and I’m finally posting a #dtiysentry TryTry’s characters are always so cute, and I love that a few of them even have backstories! So of course I took the opportunity to come up with the story at the start of this post to base the drawing on It’s also helping me improve my relationship with drawing more detailed backgrounds, which is a win in and of itself
