1830s Fashion Challenge
Rather than focusing on a designer, we’re mixing things up for this challenge and delving into the world of historical fashion, specifically the 1830s. I’m challenging you to interpret your original character’s regular attire into clothing appropriate for the 1830s and draw them as if they lived in that era.
“1830s fashion was dramatic and overwhelming, marked by huge sleeves and hats, reflecting the Romantic movement. Extravagant dandies led the fashion world. After 1836, the exuberance that had defined fashion since the 1820s collapsed into a drooping sentimentality.” (https://fashionhistory.fitnyc.edu/1830-1839/)
The above quote is from the Fashion History Timeline, which describes the fashion of the 1830s much better than I can. It focuses on western fashion, as do a lot of resources unfortunately, but you are NOT limited to western fashion for this challenge. And feel free to go a little historically inaccurate to better fit your character.
No deadline, no prizes, it’s all just for fun and love of fashion!
