Gallery Series: Killer Whale

This one is based off of a painting I did a few months before (I'll post it next for reference). I love whales, and I love using the deep blues for them instead of blacks to tie them in with the sea and sky easier.

Again, I love doing these small little guys because it forces you to plan out every pixel. With it being this small (this one's either 24x24 or 32x32, I can't remember and I don't really wanna count them lol) one color that's off could throw the whole piece!

I'm probably going to pick these back up at some point! They're always fun practices to do over breaks at work. I try to come up with the idea over the first break, do the bulk of the art over lunch, and then the lighting and final touches over the last break. All in all about an hour goes into these but spread out like that it gives me space to step back and consider what and how I'll do it.
