Question for people who sell prints!
Did you wait to have a certain following size before selling (if so, how large of a following), or did you just start selling when you felt ready, despite maybe having a smaller following?

Honestly, I started selling when my following got a bit bigger. Though, if you sell on etsy, your following wont really matter. People will see and possibly buy your stuff. Like the person above said, it really depends on what you're selling and how you market yourself.

•I started an Etsy shop when my following was really small. Since Etsy has a built in marketplace, where people can find my products whether they follow me or not, I did make a few sales here and there (selling fan art helped with that a lot as well). I've had my shop open for a few years now and sales are still pretty inconsistent but I do sell some stuff, not as much as I would like to, but I'm still working on improving my products, and gaining a customer base. I have almost 800 followers now on instagram, probably twice as much as I had when I first opened my shop and made my first sale. I think it depends on what you're selling, where you're selling it, and how you market yourself, and you don't necessarily need a certain amount of followers to start. Having, say, 100 followers who are all really interested in your art/products, is better than 300 ghost followers. Networking helps a lot. A bunch of the people who have bought art stuff from me have been friends, family, mutuals, and acquaintances! I don't really sell prints but I think this still applies. I mainly sell stickers, and embroidery! Also, if you plan on making the prints yourself, it's probably better to start with really small quantities, or doing it made-to-order. My sister sells prints and instead of printing a bunch all at once, she just prints one out any time someone places an order, so there's no extra stock or wasted material (besides test prints and misprints).
