In the lyrics "they" represents my parents or family members. "They got me feeling" meaning my dad gave me a feeling of false hope by being really nice to me until later when he couldn't stop angrily going on about something that didn't even concern him. "I was wrong to even bother" is really what I was thinking in that moment. I recommend listening to the song, there's more to it than that and also it's a beautiful tune.
