Love Blossoms
Continuing my learning of the painterly style, I started this as a paint along with a tutorial by tatyworks on YouTube.I did use some of her brushes, but in a slightly different way. I also used some other brushes
At first, I was aiming to do a magical nighttime scene, with my usual stars and sparkles, which is why I used a more muted blue tone. But as the painting progressed, it decided to take a different turn. Then the wolf I tried to draw running, became a fox lying down, before becoming a squirrel. It seemed to be peering into the tree branches, so I gave it a friend.
When the tutorial video finished, I was still painting the second tree, so I decided to put on one of angrymikko’s livestreams from last year, to see if I could pick up any tips.
I’ll have to rewatch it because I was concentrating on my own painting that I saw a grand total of about five minutes. He’d be very grumpy with the amount of brushes I used.
As this was done on a small canvas, I don’t think it will translate very well into prints. But it was a fun painting to do and I might try and make a bigger version at some point.
