Darkness swirled around her as she walked. There was no pain, there was no feeling at all. Just the sense of moving forward. Moving towards the semblance of light that she couldn't even see.

Then it flashed all around her, and the pain came with it. Searing fire from her back, and the bite of the ropes around her wrists, her waist, her ankles.

"No!" the sound tore from her throat, already raw. "No! Don't!"

It never mattered how much she pleaded... It always ended the same.

Lusa trembled in the dark, her throat and hands burning.

The sheets twisted around her, and the bandages on one of her hands had completely unraveled.

She lay there for a few moments, unable to even focus enough to recognize where she was.

Hotel. Inaein.

It was over. It was over.

A small knock came from the door.

"What?" she croaked.

"Daes is here."

Lusa froze. "... how long has he been here?"

"Almost an hour."
