I'm currently using medibang paint on my microsoft tablet too! It has a lot of free brushes to boot so maybe you can give that a try

I usually just use photoshop and sometimes krita for animations. Not sure if any of these options are lighter in storage though.
A coworker of main recently mentioned that you can use add ons to turn paint.net into a decent drawing program. I have not tried that myself but having more control over what add ons/ features you really want might give you more control over storage space?
