I'd say running and screaming are default child activities, before pen and paper. 🤔

I think it's accessible in pretty much any household and it has a unique feel to it, it's not like any other activity. They also get immediate praise from people around them for trying it or doing it, as they should. Language develops gradually but even before that there's something that's simply satisfying in making any kind of marks or colour appear.
