Digital Monarch Stitching Samples
These are stitched samples of what developed into the Glitch, Fluid and Nonbinary designs in the Digital Monarch collection. They represent, of course, gender fluidity and breaking the binary, and incorporate a futuristic, escapist aesthetic.I didn’t have any access to the sewing workshop - and therefore embroidery machines or digital and sublimation printing - for this project, thanks to the pandemic, so I decided to stitch designs into my garments using my domestic machine (which took a lot of experimentation with stitch type and length to make sure it stood out visually and didn’t come undone or have any other problems). It’s frustrating how much of the collection was shaped by my limitations, but it is what it is!Jun 5, 2022
